CUT

Diameter The overall width of the diamond.Table – the top largest facet of a diamond
Girdle The intersection between the diamond’s Table and Pavilion
Crown This is the top proportion between a diamonds Table and Girdle
Pavilion The bottom section of a diamond. This extends between a diamonds Girdle and Culet.
Culet The facet at the bottom of a diamond. This preferably should not be able to be seen by the naked eye.

Symmetry and polish are important factors that come into a diamonds cut.   

Polish – The polish is referring to the smoothness of a diamond’s facets This effects he sparkle of the stone, if a stone is of poor polish the stone will appear to have a dull or blurred sparkle.

Symmetry – The symmetry is referring to the alignment of the facets in a diamond. This will effect the brilliance of the diamond, if the a stone is of poor symmetry the light entering the diamond will be misdirected and lost.
