CUT
Most Gemmologists consider that the cut of a diamond is the most important characteristic as it determines the diamond's brilliance . There is no single measurement of the a diamond that determines its cut, It is a collection of measurements and observations that determine the relationship between a diamond’s light performance, dimensions and finish. If a diamond is poorly cut even a diamond with perfect colour and clarity will look dull.
The proportions of a diamond will effect the way in which light travels through it. This is shown below.

| TOO DEEP | IDEAL | TOO SHALLOW |
Too Shallow – Light will escape through the bottom causing the diamond to lose brilliance.
Too Deep – Light will be lost out of the side of the diamond making the diamond seem dull and dark.
