Cut: The cut of the diamond dictates how brilliant it will look. As such, even if the diamond is high quality, but is cut too deep or too shallow, it will end up looking dull. The “fire” of the diamond comes from its cut. The shape of the diamond is determined by the cut. Thus, you need to make sure that you note the cut of the diamond before you make your purchase.
Clarity: Diamonds that are free from internal flaws, or inclusions, are very rare and hence more expensive. However, the inclusions are like nature's fingerprints and as such, you have nothing to worry about as long as the imperfections do not make the diamond look dull. Most often you will not even be able to see the inclusions with the naked eye. The most expensive diamonds are the ones that graded FL, or Flawless.
